What Is Soft Washing?

A soft wash involves using low-pressure nozzles at the end of a pressure washing gun and specialized cleaning solutions. This effective but gentle washing method is designed to not cause damage to the surface of your home or plants.

To achieve any kind of lasting result against these microbial substances, you cannot treat just half a roof or half a wall. A soft wash must be applied to the entire surface to ensure these stains do not linger.

Elements that are typically removed from surfaces by soft washing include:

Soft washing can be used to clean roofs, decks, patios, siding, or fencing very thoroughly. It also maintains paint and masonry longer. Soft wash solutions go deeper than just the surface of the building material. It seeps into every crevice and pore.

The simplest soft washing rig consists of just a few parts: the tank, the pump, the hose and finally the spray gun.  A soft wash has everything to do with the delivery of the cleaning chemicals. Soft wash systems merely deliver a potent mix of chemicals that treat the building exterior surface. The chemicals do all the cleaning, removing the organic- based stain without harsh water pressure.

Soft washing chemicals need only be applied to clean. No pressure is needed for the cleaning, only for the application. Soft washing allows a surface to stay clean longer, resulting in less cleaning visits from a professional. This means less water, chemicals, time, and money are used.

Our Soft Washing Process

Our process starts with an on-site visit to create a scope of work based on your property’s exact needs.  Upon project approval, we post initial notices to signal affected individuals of the upcoming work.  At AB Contracting, our team will adjust all solutions to ensure no surrounding landscaping or environmental properties are affected by the cleaning process. 

We spray the mixture of soap and sodium hyper-chlorite onto mildew or algae-covered surfaces and let it remain for approximately 5 minutes.  Then clean the surface using a heavy water rinse. The results produce surfaces that look new and uniform, unlike the streakiness produced with typical pressure washing.
